Hypnotherapy to support Fertility
Whether trying to conceive naturally or having fertility support (IVF) in various forms, Hypnotherapy can be beneficial to support you throughout the process.
Trying to have a baby can be a very stressful time. Stress can have a profoundly adverse effect on many aspects of our lives, and this is particularly true when trying to conceive.
Fertility issues are a very emotive topic, particularly when we are trying to have a baby or experiencing issues around having a baby.
Whether you have been trying for a month or several years, are considering having assistance or already have specialist treatment for fertility issues, you and your partner may benefit from having a course of Hypnotherapy to help you stay in a positive frame of mind.
When we become stressed, our bodies have an excellent way of protecting us from potential threats and keeping us safe; however, this can potentially have an adverse effect on our ability to achieve what we truly desire.
As a Solution-Focused hypnotherapist, I will encourage you to reduce stress in your life, relax, and, in doing so, decrease the stress hormones that can affect conception.
If you are having IVF or similar assistance, being calm and relaxed is hugely beneficial, and Hypnotherapy will help you during this time.
An Israeli in the Soroka Hospital study of 185 women showed that the success rate of IVF treatments doubled from 14% to 28% when participants used hypnosis during implantation. ( Levitas, E. E. (2006). Impact of hypnosis during embryo transfer on the outcome of in vitro fertilisation-embryo transfer: a case-control study. Fertility and Sterility, 85 (5), 1404-1408.)
Something to consider is your mood whilst trying to conceive:
There is some evidence which shows that receiving Hypnotherapy whilst trying to conceive can improve fertility.
- Women with a history of depression reported twice the rate of subsequent infertility (Psychosomatic Medicine, 1995, vol. 57)
- Women with depression, when treated, showed a 60% viable pregnancy rate within six months, in comparison to 24%when depression went untreated. (Journal of American Medical Women’s Association, 1999, vol.54)
- Women who experienced depression following an unsuccessful first IVF had much lower pregnancy rates than those who didn’t during their second IVF cycle (Journal of Psychosomatic Research, 1993, vol. 37)
- Reproductive Endocrinology (April 2000, vol. 73, issue 4) reported on a group of women in their second year of infertility. The study showed that the group of women who had group psychological interventions (like Hypnotherapy) to reduce the depression caused by infertility had significantly increased viable pregnancies in comparison to those who did not receive preventative treatment for depression.
Hypnotherapy can help with your sleep, stress, self-esteem, and confidence, instilling a sense of control that enables you to maximise your chances of achieving mental and emotional balance.
This, in turn, allows you to consider any lifestyle changes necessary for a healthier life.
